Chunky Sneakers & Floral Dress

Chunky sneakers. Dad sneakers. Ugly sneakers. Näille möhkälelenkkareille löytyy monta nimeä, ja yleensä niitä joko vihaa tai rakastaa.

Chunky sneakerseja alkoi näkymään jonkin verran viime kesänä, ja kuluneen vuoden aikana ne ovat vain kasvattaneet suosiotaan. Kukaan tuskin on välttynyt näkemästä esimerkiksi Balenciagan Triple S -sneakereita Instagram-fiidillään, vai mitä? Itse kuuluin aluksi ihan ehdottomasti näiden lenkkareiden vihaajiin koska onhan ne nyt nimenomaan aika möhkäleet, mutta kuinka ollakaan niin se kelkka taas kääntyi tämänkin trendin kohdalla. Kevään ja kuluneen kesän aikana oon syttynyt chunky sneakers -trendille yhä enemmän ja enemmän, ja hommahan päättyi lopulta niin että nyt sellaiset löytyy omastakin kenkäkaapistani. Ja nämä on muuten rakkautta.

Chunky sneakers. Dad sneakers. Ugly sneakers. These shoes have multiple names, and usually you either love them or hate them. 

Chunky sneakers started to come around this time last year, but during the last 12 months they have only increased in popularity. I doubt anyone has been able to avoid seeing e.g. the Balenciaga Triple S sneakers appearing on their Instagram feed, no? Personally I was part of the hater club at first because, let's face it, they are chunky. But surprise surprise I've changed my mind when it comes to this trend too. During the spring and these summer months my love for the trend has just grown and grown, and now I've ultimately reached the point when I've got a pair of chunky sneakers in my shoedrobe too. And these are pure love, let me tell you. 




Lenkkarit on tullut testattua jo niin sporttisesti leggingsien kanssa, smart casual -tyyliin farkkuihin ja bleiseriin yhdistettynä, kuin kuvissa näkyvällä tavalla naisellisen kukkamekonkin kanssa. Ja jokainen kombo on myös todettu toimivaksi! Nämä Eccon chunky sneakersit on myös aivan älyttömän mukavat, eli tuun varmaan elämään nämä kengät jalassa tulevien kuukausien ajan yliopistolla ja ihan muutenkin. Ei muuten heti ensinäkemältä uskoisi kenkiä Eccoiksi, vai mitä?! Brändi on kokenut ihan mielettömän kasvojenkohotuksen uusien suunnittelijoiden ansiosta, ja siinä missä ennen ainakin itse yhdistin Eccon mummomaisiin terveyskenkiin, löytyy brändin valikoimasta nykyään todella tyylikkäitä ja trendikkäitä jalkineita. Kuitenkaan siitä mukavuudesta tinkimättä.

I've already test ran the sneakers in a total sporty look with leggings, in a smart casual way with jeans and a blazer, as well as together with a feminine floral dress like you can see in the photos of this post. And I've also proven each of these looks to work! These chunky sneakers from Ecco are also incredibly comfortable to wear, and so I will most probably be living in these for the foreseeable future. You really wouldn't think these shoes are from Ecco at the first glance, right?! The brand has experienced an insane facelift thanks to new designers, and whereas I previously associated Ecco with granny-ish health shoes, nowadays the brand produces trendy and stylish footwear. Without compromising on the comfort!

Tykkään hurjasti kontrastista, jonka lenkkarit luo yhdessä pitkän kukkamekon kanssa. Mun mielestä on ihan huippua, kuinka muodissa ja pukeutumisessa ei nykyään ihan oikeasti enää ole mitään sääntöjä. Sitä voi olla ja laittaa päälle just sitä mikä itsestä milloinkin tuntuu hyvältä, ja se saattaa olla yhtenä päivänä yhtä ja toisena jotain ihan muuta. Joo, mullakin on ne mun ehdottomat luottovakkarikokonaisuudet joissa tiedän viihtyväni, mutta välillä on ihan parasta kokeilla rohkeasti vähän jotain uutta ja erilaista. Kuten vaikka värikkään ja tuulessa hulmuavan kukkamekon yhdistämistä valkoisiin chunky sneakerseihin ;)

I really love the contrast the sneakers create together with the long floral dress. And personally I think it's amazing how we don't really have any 'fashion rules' anymore, and you can literally wear exactly what you want and what you feel like. And how that can be something one day, and something totally different the next. And yeah, of course I have my absolute favourite go-to combos that I know I'll feel good in, but sometimes it really feels good to step out of your comfort zone a little bit and try something new and different. Like a pair of chunky sneakers together with a bright, flowy floral dress ;)

Pitkä kukkamekko on muuten myös ihan omiaan näihin loppukesän ja alkysyksyn päiviin! Mekko toimii hyvin yksinään lämpiminä päivinä, mutta erityisesti aamujen ja iltojen ollessa usein jo melko viileitä voi sen kerrostaa kevyen takin tai neuleen kanssa. Nahkatakki on varma valinta joka ei petä koskaan, mutta musta tai valkoinen bleiseri toimisi loistavasti myös!

And a long floral dress is a great item for these late summer / early autumn days by the way! The dress can be worn on its own, but on those chilly mornings and nights it can be layered with a light jacket or a jumper. A leather jacket is always a safe bet, but a black or white relaxed blazer would look good too!
