On Style Slumps, Chunky Knits, and Crazy Busy Weeks

Mä alan taas olla siinä jokavuotisessa vaiheessa, kun pukeutumisen suhteen mikään ei oikein inspiroi, tai jos inspiroikin niin sellaisia asuja mitä oikeasti haluaisin käyttää ei voi pukea päälle vielä pitkään aikaan saamatta hypotermiaa. Käyn läpi tämän ihan täsmälleen saman vaiheen jokaikinen vuosi juurikin tässä helmi-maaliskuun vaihteessa, kun mielessä on jo kevät, päivänvalo lisääntyy, ja luontokin alkaa pikku pikku hiljaa antaa merkkejä tulevasta keväästä. Tässä vaiheessa vuotta sääolosuhteet on kuitenkin yleensä kaikkea muuta kuin keväiset, ja ihan oikeasti käyttöön pääsee ne ihan samat neuleet ja takit kuin kuluneina neljänä kuukautena muutenkin.

I'm starting to get to that yearly point when nothing is really inspiring me when it comes to putting an outfit on in the morning. Or if something does inspire me, then the outfits I would really want to be wearing are not weather appropriate for a long long time. I go through this exact phase every single year at this point when February turns into March, my mind is already in spring, there's more daylight, and the nature starts waking up little by little. However, at this time of the year the weather circumstances rarely allow for anything spring-like, and what I'm really putting on in the mornings are the same jumpers, knits and coats as during the four previous months too.



Nyt kun ne neuleet on kuitenkin vielä se kaikkein fiksuin valinta, oon monesti turvautunut tähän ylisuureen, paksuun ja pehmeään, alunperin miesten osastolta peräisin olevaan valkoiseen palmikkoneuleeseen. Neule on näkynyt myös muun muassa tässä aikaisemmassa postauksessa, jossa yhdistin sen tekonahkahousuihin, harmaaseen villakangastakkiin, valkoisiin lenkkareihin ja ruskeaan hattuun. Näissä kuvissa neuleen kaverina puolestaan toimii pillifarkut, aina yhtä ihana kamelitakki ja mun kuluneen talven uudet suosikkikengät &Other Storiesilta. Ja viimeksi eilen puin neuleen sporttisemmin yhdessä leggingsien kanssa, sillä illalla oli taas vuorossa jokatorstainen tanssitunti.

Now that knits and jumpers are still the most sensible choice of clothing, I've been often relying on this oversized, chunky, soft white cable knit jumper that is originally from the men's section. This chunky knit also made an appearance on this post where I combined it together with faux leather trousers, a grey woollen coat, white sneakers and a tan coloured hat. In these photos I've paired the knit with skinny jeans, my beloved camel coat, and the &Other Stories boots that have hands down been my favourite shoes this winter. And it was only yesterday when I wore this exact knit again, this time in a more sporty look together with leggings as I had a dance class to head to in the evening.

Kulunut viikko on kyllä ollut melkoista myllerrystä, ja on tässä parit stressi-itkutkin tullut itkettyä. Meillä on ensi viikolla yksi koko yliopistouran isoimmista ja tärkeimmistä presiksistä/palautuksista, ja sen kanssa ollaan taisteltu porukalla ja istuttu yliopiston tietokoneluokassa 11-tuntisia päiviä. Mutta voiton puolella ollaan jo, valo näkyy tunnelin päässä ja ensi viikon keskiviikkona koko projekti on taputeltu! Sieltä se valmistuminenkin pikku hiljaa lähestyy, ja heinäkuun 8. päivä saa tämä tyttö virallisesti paperit käteen ja hatun päähän. Sitä ennen on kuitenkin vielä paljon hommaa vaikka tämä yksi projekti pian päättyykin, joten ei auta muu kuin pitää katse tulevassa ja tavoitteet kirkkaasti mielessä!

This whole week has been an absolute whirlwind, and it has included a couple of stress induced cries too. We've got one of the biggest and most important group presentations / submissions of our whole university career next week, and we've been working on it really hard, including 11-hour days in the computer lab. But it's almost done, there's light at the end of the tunnel, and on Wednesday next week the whole project will be over and done with! Graduation is slowly creeping up too, and this girl will officially graduate on the 8th of July. But there's still a lot to do before that, even though this one project comes to conclusion. So now it's just about staying focused, keeping my eyes on the future, and goals clearly in mind!
