Tips on Creating Content from Home

Kuvaan asukuvia kaikkein mieluiten street style-tyylisesti ulkona kaupunkiympäristössä. Nyt kun ulkona liikkuminen on muutamien viime viikkojen aikana ollut rajoitettua, eikä tässä kodin välittömässä läheisyydessäkään ole mun silmää miellyttäviä kuvauslokaatioita, on täytynyt turvautua kotona kuvaamiseen ja kehitellä erilaisia kuvausspotteja ihan vain kotioloissa. Miten sitten olen viimeisten viikkojen aikana kuvannut ja tuottanut sisältöä kotoa käsin? Tässä mun parhaat vinkit nimenomaan kuvien ottamiseen ja sisällöntuotantoon niin sanotusti neljän seinän sisältä.

I prefer shooting outfits outside, street style way in an urban city location. But now that we're quite restricted as to where we can go and when, and since we don't have any outside shoot locations that I like nearby where we live, I've had to resort to shooting at home and come up with different settings and locations indoors. How exactly have I been taking photos and creating content from home during the past few weeks? Below you'll find my best tips when it comes to taking photos and keeping the creation flowing when quite stuck inside. 

Luovuus kehiin

Katso kotia vähän uusin silmin. Missä olisi hyvä kuvausspotti? Saako jotain huonekalua tai elementtiä siirtämällä huijattua silmää ja tuotua vaihtelua? Itse muun muassa laitoin näitä kuvia varten meidän koko olohuoneen aivan sikin sokin, jotta sain luotua olohuoneen nurkkaan kuvien pienen spotin. Kasvit ja tuolit liikkuu helposti ja on hyvää kuvausrekvisiittaa, ja jos kotoa löytyy portaat niin niitäkin voi hyödyntää!

Hyödynnä apua

Tiedän että olen itse todella onnekkaassa asemassa sen suhteen, että asun tällä hetkellä vielä vanhempieni luona, jossa kuvausapua löytyy valokuvaajayrittäjänä toimivasta äidistä aina valmiina auttamaan olevaan pikkusiskoon. Tämä tilanne kuitenkin muuttuu tasan viikon päästä kun pääsen muuttamaan omaan yksiööni, ja sen jälkeen onkin otettava luovemmat ratkaisut kehiin. Onneksi multa löytyy entuudestaan kolmijalka, jolla kuvasin jonkin verran yksinäni Glasgow'ssa, eli se pääsee varmasti taas ahkeraan käyttöön yksin asuessa. Mun paras vinkki onkin siis, että jos perheenjäsenistä, kumppanista, kämppiksestä tai muista mahdollisesti sun kanssa asuvista ihmisistä ei ole apua, niin kolmijalka on loistava ratkaisu.

Think creatively

Look at your home with new eyes so to say. What would make for a good spot for photos? Can you shuffle the furniture or some other element around to bring some variety? For example, I completely turned over our living room for these photos in order to create that little space in the corner. Plants and chairs/seats are relatively easy to move around and make for good props, and if you have a staircase at home you can make use of that too! 

Seek help

I know personally I'm in a very very good position as I'm currently still staying with my parents, and so I've got photography help readily on hand. My mum works as a photographer and also my little sister is always ready to help with photos. However, this situation will change in exactly a week when I'm moving to a new flat alone, and that means I need to get more creative again. Luckily I already have a tripod which I used every once in a while when shooting alone in Glasgow, so I am going to bring that one out again. My best tip for creating content at home would be to get a tripod if there is no photography help coming from family, partner, flatmates or anyone else you live with. 

Kokeile rohkeasti

Nyt on hyvä aika kokeilla rohkeasti vähän uusiakin juttuja, ja kehittää omaa osaamista ja tekemistä. Lakanoita hyödyntäen saa pystyyn ihan loistavan kotistudion, ja erilaisten kuvakulmien, rajausten tai esimerkiksi peilin avulla saa omaan tekemiseen vähän vaihtelua. Itse yritän myös aktivoitua taas videoidenkin kanssa kunhan saan muuton hoidettua alta pois. Jos tulee mieleen mitään tiettyjä toiveita videoiden suhteen, niin niitä saa ehdottomasti laittaa tulemaan!

Sopeudu ja tee parhaasi

Tämä poikkeustilanne on, noh, poikkeuksellinen ja vähän outo kaikille. Tosin tuntuu että kyllä tähän pikku hiljaa alkaa jo jopa tottua. Joka tapauksessa, kun tälle tilanteelle ja rajoituksille ei mitään voi, niin ei auta kuin sopeutua tilanteeseen ja tehdä parhaansa näissä tämänhetkisissä olosuhteissa.

Try, try, try

Now is a good time to be brave, try new things, and develop your skills. You can make a good home studio with the help of bed sheets, and trying different angles, cropping, or experimenting with a mirror for instance are great ways to experiment and bring some variety in. Personally I'm also trying to get more active with videos again after the move is out of the way. Adapt and do your best

This exceptional situation is, well, exceptional and a little strange for everyone. Although I think people are actually getting used to this new way of living little by little. However, as there isn't anything you can really do about this situation or the limitations, there is no choice but to adapt and do your best in the circumstances we are in just now.
