Kokonaan yhteen värisävyyn pukeutuminen, eli tonal dressing, on ollut todella pinnalla jo pitkään. Monille onkin varmasti tullut somessa vastaan useampia asuja kuvatekstillä all white, all black, all beige, all grey, all brown tai jokin muu all *värin nimi tähän*. Uskaltaisin jopa väittää, että näistä yhden värin asuista on tullut jo sen verran tyylikäs klassikko, että enää ei voida edes puhua ohimenevästä trendistä vaan yksivärisiä lookeja nähdään paljon tulevaisuudessakin.
Kuten voitte näistä kuvista ja Instagram feediltänikin huomata, tonal dressing on vienyt myös minut mukanaan. Ja nimenomaan näissä neutraaleissa all beige, all white ja all grey asuissa. Wearing one colour from head to toe, i.e. tonal dressing, has been fashionistas' top choice for quite some time now. I'm sure many of you have come across social media posts with captions such as all white, all black, all beige, all grey, all brown or another all *insert colour here*. I even dare to say that these one colour outfits have become an elegant classic and we can't talk about a passing trend anymore, but we will be seeing a lot of tonal outfits in the future as well.
As you can see in these images and by looking at my Instagram feed, tonal dressing has also lured me in. And exactly in these neutral all beige, all white and all grey outfits. If you want to try tonal dressing too but feel that you need a little bit help to get started and tips on how exactly to dress in one colour from head to toe and not look boring, then I hope this post and my tips will be helpful for you!

1. Valitse värisi viisaasti
Jos totta puhutaan, kirjoitin jo aluksi 'valitse neutraalit värit', mutta sitten totesin että se heijastaa vain mun omaa henkilökohtaista tyyliä ja mieltymyksiä. Ja olen ihan oikeasti törmännyt myös useampaan upeaan värikkääseen asuun, esimerkiksi kokonaan kirkkaanpunaisena hehkuvaan lookiin tai kauniiseen ja hempeään päästä varpaisiin laventeliin pukeutuneeseen tyyppiin. Eli vinkkini on, että valitse sellainen väri jota itse rakastat niin paljon että todella haluat pukeutua siihen päästä varpaisiin ja tunnet siinä olosi mukavaksi ja itsevarmaksi.

1. Pick your colours wisely
To be honest, at first I wrote 'pick neutral colours', but then I realised that that only reflects my own personal style and preferences. And I've actually come across multiple gorgeous tonal looks with bright colours too, such as a bright red look or a beautiful and soft lavender toned outfit. So instead my tip is to choose a colour that you love so much that you want to dress in it from head to toe, and which makes you feel comfortable and confident.
2. Mieti värisävyjä
Erityisesti niiden mun suosikkien neutraalien värien kanssa eri sävyjen käyttö tuo asuun eloa ja mielenkiintoa. Kun väripaletti on hillitty ja yhdenmukainen, niin samaan asuun voi helposti yhdistää useampaa eri sävyä samasta paletista. Esimerkiksi tähän beigeen lookiin olisin hyvin voinut laittaa päälle vielä beigen bleiserin. Vaikka bleiserikin on beige, se on kuitenkin ihan erilainen beige kuin tämän asun housut tai pooloneule. Eli se olisi tuonut lookiin yhden sävyn lisää, mutta kokonaisuus olisi silti pysynyt hillittynä ja tyylikkäänä. Jos taas lähtee leikkimään niillä väreillä, kuten kirkkaanpunaisella tai laventelin violetilla, niin silloin kaikkein tyylikkäin kokonaisuus syntyy kun sekä ylä- että alaosa ovat tismalleen samaa värisävyä, sillä muuten kokonaisuus menee helposti sekavan puolelle. Hyvä esimerkki on vaikkapa upea punainen jakkupuku.
2. Think about the tones
Especially with my beloved neutral colours, using different tones of the colour brings more vibrance to the outfit and makes it look more interesting. When the colour palette is neutral and muted, you can easily combine multiple different tones from one colour palette. For example with this beige look I could have added a beige blazer on top. And although the blazer is beige too, it is still a totally different kind of beige than the trousers or the turtleneck. So it would have added one more beige tone to the outfit, but the overall look would have remained stylish and elegant. And if you decide to play with bright colours, such as that before mentioned red or lavender, then the most stylish option is to choose the exact same tone on the top and bottom part of the outfit. Otherwise the finished outfit goes easily on the scrappy path. A good example here is a gorgeous red suit.
3. Suunnittele yksityiskohdat
Yksityiskohdilla on merkitystä. Yksivärisissä asuissa yksityiskohdat korostuvat vielä enemmän, eli niihin kannattaa kiinnittää hieman tarkempaa huomiota. Näyttävät kaula- ja korvakorut pääsevät yksivärisellä pohjalla loistavasti oikeuksiinsa, ja esimerkiksi kirkas huulipuna ja yksivärinen look korostavat toinen toisiaan. Kannattaa myös kokeilla eri tapoja siinä, kuinka puet vaatteet päällesi. Paita housuissa vai ei? Tai ehkä vain etuosa työnnetty rennosti housujen sisään (tälle on muuten ihan oma termikin: french tuck)? On oikeasti uskomatonta, minkälainen vaikutus niinkin pienellä asialla kuin sillä, onko paita housujen sisällä kokonaan vai vain osittain on siihen miltä koko asu loppujen lopuksi näyttää.

3. Plan the details
Details matter. And with tonal outfits the details matter even more as they really pop out, so it is worth paying a bit more attention to them. Statement necklaces and earrings really get the attention they deserve on a tonal base. Bright lipstick and a tonal outfit emphasise each other well too. It's also a good idea to try different ways when it comes to how you wear an item. Do you tuck in your top or not? Or maybe a so called french tuck, where you tuck in only the very front of your top? It is pretty amazing how much a little thing such as is your top tucked in or not actually impacts how the finished outfit looks.
