Viime kesänä rakastuin lippiksiin, ja musta lippis olikin osa monia monia kesäasujani. Syksyn tullen lippiksen käyttö jäi kuitenkin oikeastaan kokonaan, koska onhan lippis ensisijaisesti nimenomaan kesäasuste. Mutta muutama viikko sitten tajusin, että eihän sen tosiaan tarvitse olla! Lippistä voi aivan hyvin käyttää talvella siinä missä kesälläkin. Eroavaisuus on vain siinä, miten lippiksen yhdistää.
Last summer I fell in love with caps, and a black cap was part of many of my summer outfits. When autumn rolled around, I pretty much stopped using my cap completely because a cap is primarily a summer accessory, isn't it? However, a few weeks ago I realised that it really doesn't have to be! A cap can be worn during winter just as well as during the summer time. The only difference is what you style it with.

Kesällä lippis yhdistyi esimerkiksi pyöräilyshortseihin ja tennishameeseen. Nyt talvikuukausina puolestaan lippiksen kanssa täytyy luonnollisestikin pukea talvivaatteet. Muhkean makuupussitakin kanssa lippis näyttää rennon sporttiselta, mutta luulenpa että lippis sopisi hyvin myös esimerkiksi solmittavan villakangastakin kanssa. Ryhdikkään ja siistin takin kanssa lippis toisi asuun rentoutta ja sporttisuutta, jolloin kokonaisuudessa yhdistyisi mielenkiintoisesti erilaiset tyylit ja kontrastit. Lippis ja villakangastakki ehdottomasti vielä kokeiluun täälläkin siis!
In summer I often styled the cap with a pair of biker shorts or a tennis skirt. And now that it's winter, you obviously have to style a cap with winter clothing. When worn together with a big and cosy puffer jacket, a cap looks casual and sporty, but I think a cap would work really well with a wrapped wool coat too. Paired with a tailored and smart coat, the cap would bring a touch of casualness and sporty vibes to the overall look, which would make for an interesting combination of different styles and contrasts. Definitely going to have to give this wool coat and cap look a go myself soon!
Toki talven sääolosuhteet rajoittaa lippiksen käyttöä enemmän kuin kesäaikana, enkä missään nimessä suosittele valitsemaan lippistä päähän paukkupakkasilla. Tärkein asia on kuitenkin aina että pää pysyy lämpimänä, eli pipo tai neulottu kauluri päähän kovilla pakkasilla. Mutta leudommille talvipäiville lippis sopii päähineeksi ihan yhtä hyvin kuin kesälläkin.
Obviously you have to keep in mind that the winter weather also poses a bit more restrictions to when it's actually a good idea to put a cap on, and I definitely do not recommend wearing a cap when it's absolutely freezing outside. The most important thing always is to keep your head warm, so a beanie or a balaclava is the right choice when the temperatures drop way below zero. But on milder winter days a cap is just as great of a piece of headwear as in summertime.
